The Problem - Lynette Anderson Designs
The brief for the product was to create a online shop based around the patch working trade of Lynette Anderson. The client wanted a site in which the types of people who were looking at the site were segmented into two catagories. Those who were patch working wholesalers or retailers, and those who were patch working customers and fans. The client wanted the online shop to be viewed by all, as catalogue for those to browse through. However, the ability for purchasing products is to be reserved for wholesalers and stockists.
The client also wanted a dynamic list of the stockist and wholesalers of the products, allowing standard customers to find out where there closest stockist was. These were to be split up into what type of store they were, online physical or both and were to be display dynamically on a map.
The Solution - Lynette Anderson Designs
Using some coding trickery we created the online shop so display the price and ability to purchase the products would only be seen when a wholesaler was logged into the website. From the perspective of the non-wholesaler, the shop acts in the same way as a normal online shop, without the ability to purchase.
Within the Iceberg Content Management System we were able to create a powerful tool that would allow the client to input the address of the stockist that would automatically generate a tag on a Google map. This was able to be searched through by Country, by post/zip code and the surrounding areas. These searched locations could then be shown through the map.
The site also required a secure area for wholesalers to log into, giving them access to various perks of being a wholesaler.
